Tyrone Tracy Might Be a Value This Weekend

There's only one sure thing in the Giants backfield as of this writing: Cam Skattebo's set to lead the group. Behind him, though, we're still learning what the backup and supplementary plan will be. But murmurs about RB Tyrone Tracy being on the roster bubble might have been premature.

        Giants Backfield Just Got Messy

The Giants signed RB Najee Harris “under the premise that he's going to be a significant contributor,” ESPN’s Jordan Raanan writes in a detailed look at this suddenly crowded backfield. Ranaan adds that RB Cam Skattebo is still the “top option” but that RB Tyrone Tracy has been a “regular” with the first-team offense in camp and that RB Devin Singletary “shouldn’t be counted out.”

Preseason Opener Brings Questions About Cam Skattebo's Role

Giants RB Cam Skattebo got workhorse usage when healthy last year, averaging 16.0 carries and 4.7 targets across Weeks 2 through 7. But that was under the old coaching staff. In his first preseason game under HC John Harbaugh and OC Matt Nagy on Saturday, Skattebo worked in a 3-RB committee. He got the start, but RB Tyrone Tracy replaced him on the third snap. RB Devin Singletary started the second drive before Skattebo and Tracy mixed back in.

Matt Nagy Clouds the Giants’ Breakout Chances

The Giants are hiring Matt Nagy as their OC, according to multiple reports. Todd Monken was reportedly HC John Harbaugh's top choice for the job. But, like Harbaugh, Nagy has strong ties to Andy Reid. Nagy started his coaching career under Reid in Philadelphia and spent the past four seasons with Reid in Kansas City, serving as OC for the last three.

        Tyrone Tracy Maintains Lead-Back Role

Very little went right for the Giants in Week 16, but RB Tyrone Tracy continued to lead New York's backfield in playing time and production. Tracy out-touched Devin Singletary 18-12 and accounted for 55.3% of the Giants' total yards in the team's 16-13 loss to the Vikings. Tracy also commanded a 35-21 lead over Singletary in snaps.

Tyrone Tracy Will Play Week 15

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy (hip) put in a full week of practice and is off the final injury report. We don’t know exactly how work will be divvied between Tracy and Devin Singletary on Sunday, but the backfield boasts plenty of upside with the Giants 2.5-point favorites vs. the Commanders’ 23rd-ranked RB defense.

Tyrone Tracy A Full-Go On Wednesday

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy (hip) was a full-go in Wednesday's practice. He's set to play vs. the Commanders this weekend after getting knocked out of New York's last game before the Week 14 bye. RB Devin Singletary was out-touching Tracy in that one before the injury -- but Tracy had played ahead of Singletary the previous three games. This is a tricky backfield to project heading into Week 15. But the matchup against Washington's 23rd-ranked RB defense makes both guys worth considering as RB3s with upside.

Tyrone Tracy Says Injuries Aren't Serious

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy said Tuesday that he suffered a hip contusion and a stinger in the loss to the Patriots. It certainly looked worse than that when Tracy was carted back to the locker room. And it's worth remembering that players tend to be optimistic about their statuses. But Tracy gets a well-timed Week 14 bye, and it sounds like there's a chance he's ready come Week 15. RB Devin Singletary remains worth adding wherever available, but his chances of being a locked-in fantasy starter down the stretch take a hit with this news.

        Tyrone Tracy Injures Hip

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy was knocked out of Monday night's game vs. the Patriots with a fourth-quarter hip injury. He was carted back to the locker room. We'll look for further updates, but this had the look of a potentially serious injury. The Giants get a Week 14 bye, but RB Devin Singletary is worth adding wherever available. He'd likely take over an every-down role if Tracy misses time. The Giants get neutral RB matchups in the final three weeks of the fantasy season vs. the Commanders, Vikings, and Raiders.

        Packers-Giants Weather Update

The forecast for today's Packers-Giants game calls for sustained winds of 20 mph with gusts between 30-40 mph. That's enough to likely impact play-calling, as well as deep throws and longer kicks. We're downgrading both passing games in this one and would avoid both kickers. The over/under in this game has dipped from 43.5 on Thursday to 42.5.

Tyrone Tracy Returns to Lead Back Role

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy took back control of the backfield in Sunday's road loss to the Bears. He beat Devin Singletary in carries (14 to 8) and yards (71 to 20), with Singletary holding the slight edge in targets (3 to 2).

        Giants-Bears Weather Update

The forecast for today's Giants-Bears game calls for sustained winds around 20 mph with gusts up near 30 mph. That's enough to potentially impact play calling (i.e. more running) and passing efficiency. The game's total has dropped from 47 to 45.5. We've docked the projections on both passing games and would stay away from the kickers in this game. See the updated rankings.

Confirmed: Cam Skattebo Done For The Season

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Giants RB Cam Skattebo will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated ankle. Skattebo underwent surgery on Sunday night at a Philadelphia-area hospital. "If all is good and clean and the surgery went as well as everyone believes, he should be back with no issues for next year," Rapoport adds. "It's a gruesome injury, but the recovery is actually not as bad."

        Tyrone Tracy Limitedly Effective

RB Tyrone Tracy led the Giants in carries and touches in a game that saw Cam Skattebo's season end. Tracy logged 10 carries for 39 yards in the loss to the Eagles and caught two of three targets for 14 yards. That's 3.9 yards per carry and (a decent) 7.0 yards per catch. Devin Singletary carried just twice for no yards and caught his lone target for 28 yards.

Cam Skattebo Suffers Serious Ankle Injury

Giants RB Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome right ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. This looked like a season-ender, but we'll keep you updated on the rookie's status. RB Tyrone Tracy will take over as New York's lead back, with Devin Singletary as the No. 2.

Update: Skattebo has a dislocated ankle and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
