Giants WR Malik Nabers sounded uncertain about his Week 1 availability when he spoke Monday. He said his surgically repaired knee feels "real good," but he still has hurdles to clear before he's ready for game action.

Malik Nabers keeps progressing, and the odds of a Week 1 return keep rising. Connor Hughes of SportsNet New York reports that “He shed the red jersey and took part in 7-on-7 & 11-on-11.” While the Giants were without pads, meaning it wasn’t a full-contact practice, it was still a step in the right direction for Nabers. Hughes even reports that “He made a nice grab diving back for the ball on an intermediate route/curl.”

Less than a week following a practice where Malik Nabers left with a doctor just an hour into it, we’re getting reports that Nabers is back to taking positive strides in his rehab process. Art Stapleton of USA Today reported that “Malik Nabers took another significant step forward with live reps in 7-on-7, catching three passes from Jaxson Dart, including one on which he went up and spun in the air in traffic for about a 20-yard gain.”

After a positive start to training camp since tearing his ACL, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports, “Malik Nabers did less today than he had been.” He also added, “He worked on the side for a bit, then walked inside with a doctor an hour into practice.”

ESPN's Jordan Raanan believes WR Malik Nabers is "trending towards being ready Week 1 for the Dallas Cowboys." Nabers has participated in 9 of 10 training camp practices so far, per Raanan, and "looked better as the summer progressed." Nabers is expected to join 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work within the next couple of weeks.

Nabers tore multiple ligaments in his knee in the second quarter of the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Earlier this year, he underwent a scar-tissue cleanup procedure on the knee, but with him back on the field this early, Week 1 looks like a strong possibility.

The Giants are not placing WR Malik Nabers on the physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp, according to multiple reports.

Training camp should give us a clearer read on Giants WR Malik Nabers’ return to action. But there’s reason to question his readiness, especially with the team offering few useful details. The Giants are signing WR Odell Beckham Jr., according to multiple reports. Beckham started his pro career in New York, where he averaged 1,374 yards and 11.7 TDs over his first three seasons. Giants HC John Harbaugh admitted Thursday that WR Malik Nabers (knee) is uncertain for the start of the season. "If he's out there, great. [If] he's not out there, great. You know, we'll be ready to go either way," Harbaugh said. "But I know he's fighting like crazy to do his best to be out there, and he's with the guys every day."

The procedure took place "multiple weeks ago" and removed scar tissue that was causing stiffness, per Duggan. "This second surgery isn't expected to impact Nabers' recovery timeline. The team is still hoping the No. 1 WR will be ready for the opener," Duggan adds.

The Giants are hiring Matt Nagy as their OC, according to multiple reports. Todd Monken was reportedly HC John Harbaugh's top choice for the job. But, like Harbaugh, Nagy has strong ties to Andy Reid. Nagy started his coaching career under Reid in Philadelphia and spent the past four seasons with Reid in Kansas City, serving as OC for the last three.

It's a five-year deal that will make Harbaugh one of the league's highest-paid coaches, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Harbaugh is coming off an 18-year run with the Ravens, winning 61.4% of his regular season games and Super Bowl 47. It's a strong hire for New York. But Harbaugh worked his way up through the ranks as a special teams coach. That makes the rest of his offensive staff key to figuring out what this Giants attack will look like going forward. Giants WR Malik Nabers admitted Monday that he's iffy to be ready for the 2026 opener. "Not really sure," Nabers said. "If my body doesn’t feel right, then I’m not gonna go out there.” Nabers underwent surgery on October 28 for what was reported as a torn ACL and meniscus damage. He'll be about 10.5 months removed from surgery when the 2026 season kicks off. But Nabers was spotted prior to Sunday's finale vs. the Cowboys using a crutch and with a bulky brace on his right knee. We'll keep tabs on his progress throughout the offseason. But early fantasy drafters should consider him no better than 50/50 to be ready for Week 1.

Surgery was delayed for swelling to subside and for Nabers to complete "prehab" -- strengthening the injured knee before surgery. Per Rapoport, Nabers is still expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 season, which is about 10.5 months away. He remains a strong dynasty buy for teams that aren't contending this year (and maybe even teams that are).

The time off will also allow Nabers' partially torn labrum and turf toe to heal. Doctors considered surgery on the shoulder but ultimately opted against it, per Schefter. "For the first time since maybe high school, he will be as close to 100% healthy as possible," Schefter writes. Don't expect Nabers to be at 100% early on next season, but this time off could end up being a positive for his long-term outlook. Rebuilding dynasty teams should consider trading for Nabers right now.

Giants QB Jaxson Dart delivered a useful fantasy line in his Week 4 starting debut. He completed 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards and 1 score, adding 54 yards and a TD on the ground.

Further testing has confirmed the fear that Giants WR Malik Nabers tore his right ACL in Sunday's win over the Chargers. He'll need surgery and miss the rest of the season. The timing should at least help his chances of being ready for the start of the 2026 season. We'll obviously watch for further details on that front and track his return progress.

Update: Nabers also suffered a partially torn lateral meniscus in his right knee, according to The Athletic's Dan Duggan. But that's not expected to prolong Nabers' rehab.
