Broncos WR Marvin Mims left Thursday night's preseason finale with a foot injury. But it doesn't sound like anything that will cost him regular-season time. That doesn't mean, however, that Mims is ready for a meaningful role on offense.

The Broncos played their preseason opener Friday night without WR Jaylen Waddle (calf strain) and WR Marvin Mims, who left Friday's practice with an apparent injury. So we didn't get a full look at the WR depth chart. But we did see Courtland Sutton and Pat Bryant appear to operate as the top two. Bryant running ahead of Troy Franklin is what matters here.

The Dolphins are sending WR Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Miami will also send the 11th pick of Round 4 in this year's draft, while getting back first-, third-, and fourth-round picks this year. Each of the picks Denver's sending sits 30th in that round. Waddle spent his first five seasons with the Dolphins after arriving as the sixth-overall pick in 2021. He set a then-record for a rookie with 104 receptions in 2021 and topped out at 1,356 receiving yards in Year 2.

The Broncos have fired OC Joe Lombardi, NFL Network reports. Lombardi spent the past three seasons leading Denver's offense under HC Sean Payton and also spent 12 seasons under Payton in New Orleans. Denver's offense has been just fine under the Payton-Lombardi battery, ranking between 10th and 19th in points all three years. The Broncos did climb in total yards each season, from 26th to 19th to 10th. We'll see who's tabbed to replace Lombardi, but we wouldn't expect sweeping changes to the offense with Payton remaining at the helm.

Broncos WR Troy Franklin (hamstring) has been ruled out for the AFC Championship against the Patriots. Franklin was limited in practice all week after injuring the hamstring early in last week’s win over Buffalo, but couldn’t get cleared in time. With Franklin sidelined, Pat Bryant, now out of the concussion protocol, will start opposite Courtland Sutton, while Marvin Mims and Lil’Jordan Humphrey should see increased snap counts.

WR Pat Bryant (concussion) is off the final injury report and figures to serve as Denver's No. 2 WR this weekend. Broncos WR Pat Bryant sustained a concussion on the first possession of Saturday's win over the Bills. The rookie was busy before exiting, catching all three of his targets for 32 yards on Denver's first four offensive snaps. He'll have an extra day to get cleared for next Sunday's AFC Championship, but Bryant won't be helped by the fact that this is his second concussion in the past month. He was hospitalized and eventually diagnosed with a concussion in Week 16. WR Marvin Mims stepped up sans Bryant in the win over Buffalo, catching eight balls for 93 yards and a score. WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey caught two of five targets for 33 yards and a score. WR Troy Franklin did not see a target.

Broncos WR Troy Franklin tallied a fairly unimpactful 4-66 receiving line in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. The numbers get even less impressive when you consider that Bo Nix attempted 47 passes in a game his team trailed from the middle of the third quarter on.

After a four-game slide where it appeared that Troy Franklin had lost his status as Denver's No. 2 WR, a hamstring injury suffered by Pat Bryant opened the door for Franklin to reassert himself as an integral part of Denver's passing attack. And he took advantage of the opportunity. Franklin caught all 6 of his targets for 85 yards and 1 TD in Denver's 34-26 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Broncos WR Marvin Mims left Sunday's game vs. the Packers with a stinger. He was also evaluated for a concussion but was cleared, according to the CBS broadcast. We'll update Mims' status when we know more. Denver is already without WR Pat Bryant (hamstring) today.

He followed a Week 13 dip in usage by running a season-low 17 routes in Sunday's win over the Raiders. That marked just a 39.5% rate vs. Denver's 43 dropbacks. Franklin still ranked third among Broncos WRs in that category but trailed well behind No. 2 Pat Bryant (67.4%) and narrowly led No. 4 Marvin Mims Jr. (34.9%). Franklin ranked fifth among Denver wideouts in total snaps, trailing -- in order -- Sutton, Bryant, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, and Mims.
