Jaydon Blue Crash Lands On Eagles Practice Squad
The Eagles signed RB Jaydon Blue to their practice squad. The Cowboys cut Blue on Sunday, and he cleared waivers unclaimed.

The Cowboys are waiving RB Jaydon Blue. He arrived as a fifth-round pick in 2025 but totaled just 39 touches for his rookie season, nearly half of which came in Week 18
Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah seemed to be fighting for the Cowboys' No. 2 RB job this summer. But with RB Javonte Williams getting the second preseason game off, RB Malik Davis drew the start. The Athletic's Jon Machota now predicts Davis will open the season as the No. 2 RB before Blue takes over later in the season.
Cowboys RBs Malik Davis and Israel Abanikanda have garnered more first-team opportunities in recent workouts, and HC Brian Schottenheimer told reporters Thursday that they've "earned" those chances.
Patrik Walker of the Cowboys website asked OC Klayton Adams about the RB competition behind starter Javonte Williams. He said Adams praised each member of the group, but had comments that "stuck out" about one particular competitor.
Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue generated plenty of buzz from coaches and beat writers this spring. He's kept that momentum rolling into camp, making big plays in the run and pass games while mixing in with the first-team offense.
Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said he sees a "night and day" difference from RB Jaydon Blue between now and his rookie year. Blue was often a healthy scratch last season, carrying just 38 times across five appearances. There were multiple reports of work ethic and maturity issues throughout the year.
The Cowboys have agreed to a three-year deal with RB Javonte Williams. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it'll pay out $24 million in total, with $16 million of that guaranteed. That contract total ties D'Andre Swift for 13th at the position in total money, according to Spotrac. The average annual value ($8 million) ties for 16th, also with Swift. Williams' first season in Dallas found him ranking 10th in the league in total carries (ninth in carries per game), ninth in rushing yards, eighth in rushing TDs, and 10th in PPR points per game.
Cowboys RBs Jaydon Blue, Phil Mafah, and Hunter Luepke are active for today's game vs. the Giants. The matchup gives this backfield plenty of fantasy upside, but it's completely unclear how work will be divvied. Blue boasts an exciting combination of big-play and pass-catching ability but was not able to earn a role all season. Mafah, a seventh-round rookie, is more of a between-the-tackles grinder at 234 pounds. This will be his first action of the season. We'd avoid the situation in season-long leagues, but you can take fliers on Blue and/or Mafah in daily tournaments.
Cowboys RBs Javonte Williams (shoulder) and Malik Davis (calf, eye) are out for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants. That leaves RBs Hunter Luepke and Jaydon Blue on the active roster, with RBs Phil Mafah and Israel Abanikanda candidates to be elevated. We’ll see what moves Dallas makes leading up to kickoff and look for clues on the backfield plans. There’s fantasy upside to mine here with the matchup against the Giants’ 31st-ranked RB defense.
Cowboys RBs Javonte Williams (shoulder) and Malik Davis (calf, eye) missed Wednesday's practice. Williams never returned to last week's win over the Commanders, while Davis finished out the game as lead back. We'll see how both guys progress over the next couple days. Their absences vs. the Giants on Sunday would leave Dallas' backfield to some combination of Hunter Luepke, Phil Mafah, and Jaydon Blue.
Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue is a healthy scratch for tonight's game vs. the Cardinals. The rookie seemed to be building a little momentum as Dallas' No 2 RB, but the team will instead roll with RBs Hunter Luepke and Malik Davis behind lead back Javonte Williams in this one.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott tied a season-low with 188 passing yards in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. He completed 19 of 31 passes and went without a TD for the first time since Week 1.
Cowboys RB Miles Sanders (knee, ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. Patrik Walker of the team's official site reports that Sanders is headed for season-ending IR. That'd leave rookie Jaydon Blue as the No. 2 RB. It seems unlikely at this point that Blue will carve out enough work behind a healthy Javonte Williams to be a reliable fantasy play. But he's a Williams injury away from a big role in a high-scoring offense. Blue should be rostered in most fantasy leagues.
Cowboys RB Miles Sanders (knee, ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Jets. RB Jaydon Blue is active for the first time this season. We’ll see how big a role the rookie plays in his debut, but he’d be a desperation fantasy start. RB Javonte Williams should remain Dallas’ workhorse today.
