Best Week 12 Moves

Whether you're playing redraft or dynasty, knowing what moves to make is crucial to success.

That's why we're having each of our fantasy football experts give you one move to take advantage of this week.

Get Jared Goff

Jared Smola

Headshot of Jared Goff

I told you to buy Jameson Williams in this space last week. He responded by posting a 4-88-1 line in his toughest remaining matchup of the season. (You’re welcome!)

I’m gonna use the same rationale to recommend acquiring Jared Goff now. Goff is coming off an ugly outing in Philadelphia and has been mostly underwhelming all season. He’s had only two top-10 weekly fantasy finishes.

But Goff’s schedule thus far has been the 13th toughest for QBs. His remaining schedule? Fifth easiest.

More importantly, all six of his remaining games (not including Week 18) are indoors. That’s huge. Check out Goff’s indoor/outdoor splits as a Lion:

Indoors Outdoors
Yards Per Game 265.4 243.5
TDs Per Game 2.0 1.4
Completion Rate 69.0% 66.2%
Yards Per Attempt7.97.2

Goff is primed for a strong finish to the season and can likely be acquired for relatively cheap right now. Make the move if you don’t have a locked-in QB1.

Stick with the Cardinals in Week 12

Jody Smith

Headshot of Michael Wilson

The Cardinals aren’t playing their way into playoff contention, but Jacoby Brissett has been on a tear. He’s posted five straight top-12 finishes, averaging 314 passing yards per start and tossing 2 TDs in every game.

Last week, Brissett set an NFL record, completing 47 passes. He also threw for 452 yards in that game.

185 of those yards, and 15 of the completions went to Michael Wilson, who had a massive 32% target share against the 49ers.

Marvin Harrison has already been ruled out, which sets up Wilson to have another big outing against a Jacksonville defense that allows the seventh-most passing yards per game (236.9) and has given up the fourth-most TD passes (21).

The Jaguars have also surrendered the fourth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points to QBs.

If you’ve added Brissett or Wilson off the waiver wire, they remain excellent plays in Week 12.

Set Yourself Up for the Playoffs

Shane Hallam

Headshot of Tank Bigsby

This might be a no brainer, but if you are likely to make the playoffs, start making moves to set yourself up for success for the fantasy playoffs. We have a Strength of Schedule tool to help you figure out which players to target. You can adjust the slider to your playoff weeks and see whose schedules are easiest (and hardest). A few suggestions:

Sure up your Kicker and Defense

Use the tool to secure a Kicker that gets easy match-ups during your fantasy playoffs. Don’t cut a top Kicker like Brandon Aubrey, but if you have been streaming the position, players like Andrés Borregales, Jake Moody, or Evan McPherson make sense. The same goes for Defense, though it isn’t quite as clear.

Defenses like the Steelers and Buccaneers are strong enough to be usable during the fantasy playoffs in good match-ups. Of course, the best defense for Weeks 15-17 is the Texans, but they are on a roster already. Don’t settle for awful defenses like the Saints and Cowboys, but you could stash an extra defense if you have the roster space.

Sign RB handcuffs with easy playoff schedules

Injuries have been brutal (like every year) but stashing RB handcuffs still remains the best bench strategy. If you are already making the playoffs, grab a handcuff RB or two with easy match-ups during your playoff schedule. If their starter misses a game due to injury, you have a fantasy starter with upside. RBs like Ollie Gordon and Tank Bigsby make sense as stashes in preparation for the playoffs.

Make trades to strengthen your starters

We continue highlight weekly trade targets that could help push you to the championship. QB Lamar Jackson and RB Aaron Jones line up as solid fantasy starters with excellent playoff schedules. Take a look at the playoff schedules and finding those players who have had a bad performance or two lately to buy low. That can be a difference between a championship or going home in the playoffs.
